"Beloved Mother"Dorothy Veda Higley Egelund, 81, passed away April 18, 2012 due to Alzheimer's disease. She was born the ninth of ten children on June 12, 1930 to Stephen Leamuel and Maggie May Cartwright of Grantsville, Utah.Dorothy excelled at school and was graduated from Grantsville High School and the University of Utah (1952). On Aug. 24, 1951 she married the love of her life, Rulon Harold Egelund, in the Salt Lake Temple. She became the mother of three daughters. Making a heavenly home was always the greatest desire of her heart. She worked as an educator for 31 years, teaching hundreds of children to learn to read in the Tooele School District.She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served excellently in many callings.She is survived by her daughters, Jeanne Egelund, Marie (Rick) Bradshaw, Ruth Eileen (Roger) Mifflin; grandchildren, Peter and Jonathan Mifflin, Elizabeth and Laura Bradshaw; and sisters Norma (Rulon) Miller and Ruth (Lindy) Crandall.Funeral services will be held Monday, April 23, 2012 at12 Noon in the Crescent 10th Ward, 10975 So. Prescott Drive (1630 East), where a visitation will be held Monday from 10:00-11:45 a.m. Interment Larkin Sunset Gardens.Thank-you to the Wentworth of Draper for their loving care. Because of her love of learning, donations may be made to the Perpetual Education Fund of the LDS Church in lieu of flowers.
