Paul Andrew Altis was born August 28, 1899 at the farm home north of Cabool, Missouri, to Samuel W. and Julia Harriett Brooks Altis. He passed away March 8, 1993 at Kabul Nursing Home in Cabool. He was united in marriage to Rachel Esther Bray, March 1, 1923. They recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. To this union two sons and two daughters were born.
Paul was a farmer many years before entering public work. He owned and operated a cafe at Mtn. Grove, Missouri, then purchased the El Patio Hotel at Cabool and operated it until retiring in 1977. He was a charter member of Providence Free Will Baptist Church. He was a loving husband and father and will be sadly missed. Surviving are his wife Esther, of the home; two sons, Emmett Altis of Kansas City, Missouri, and Hubert Altis of Liberty, Missouri; two daughters, Ada Hilderbrand of Kansas City, Missouri, and Fay Noah of Osage City, Kansas; seven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in passing by his parents, six brothers, four sisters and two great granddaughters. Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Thursday, March 11, 1993 in Elliott-Gentry Funeral Home with Rev. Russell McDaris officiating. Soloist Neil Hamilton was accompanied by pianist Modene Pierson and sang "How Great Thou Art" and "Amazing Grace". Burial was in Hillcrest Cemetery at Mtn. Grove. Pallbearers were Don Altis, David Altis, Michael Welch, Robbie Upp, Dale Altis and Dale Elliott.

ALTIS CAFE SOLD TO MOUNTAIN GROVE PEOPLE
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Altis have sold their cafe, located on the north side of the square at Mountain Grove, to Mr. and Mrs. Owen Mackey also of Mountain Grove, but formerly of Ava.Mr. and Mrs. Altis are now vacationing in Kansas City but plan to maintain their residence in Mountain Grove.

LOCAL COUPLE WILL OBSERVE ANNIVERSARY
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Altis will observe their golden wedding anniversary Sunday, March 4, with an open house celebration hosted by their children and grandchildren at the El Patio Hotel in Cabool. Mr. and Mrs. Altis will receive friends and relatives from 1 to 4 p.m. Mr. and Mrs. Altis were married March 1, 1923, by the Rev. Ben Fielden at his home. They have lived most of their married life in Cabool. The children and grandchildren who will host the anniversary observance are Mr. and Mrs. Emmett P. Altis, Kansas City, Mr. and Mrs. O.W. Hilderbrand (Ada), Kansas City, Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Altis and two sons, Liberty, Mrs. Fay Welch and son, Parkville and grandchildren Mrs. Paula Jordison and daughter, Kansas City and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Bateman, Grandview. Granddaughter, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Musgrove and two sons of Livermore, Ca., will be unable to attend
