Herbert Douglas Garrison, 85, of Powderly died Sunday, Feb. 18, 2001, at McCuistion Regional Medical Center. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21, at Fry and Gibbs Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Jerry Moore officiating. Burial will be in Pyles Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mr. Garrison was born Nov. 9, 1915, in the Unity community to James and Linnie Milligan Garrison. He married Evelyn Lovice Rankin on Jan. 13, 1935, in Unity. He retired from Inter-Continental Manufacturing in Garland where he worked in the paint shop. He was also a retired farmer and member of the Baptist church. Survivors are his wife of 66 years, Evelyn; four children, Doris Ashley and husband Charles, John D. "Butch" Garrison and wife Billie Ann. Martha Owens and husband Carl, and Billy Wayne Garrison and wife Helen, all of Powderly; 12 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; a brother-in-law, Norman Bohannon of Fort Worth; and a sister-in-law, Lorene Garrison of Paris. He was preceded in death by grandchildren; three brothers and five sisters. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Steven Garrison, Galen Garrison, Bobby Garrison, Jeff Ashley, Brandon Smith and Justin Boles. Honorary bearers will be Chris Hodges, Michael Ashley, Jeremy Moses, Jamie Moses, Eric Garrison, Cary Garrison, Josh Moses and Steven Moses.
