August H. Fisbeck, 76, retired Holyoke farmer and rancher, passed away at about 7:00 a.m. Sunday, November 26, at the Logan county Hospital in Sterling..
Mr. Fisbeck had been in failing health for some time but was active until a few weeks ago. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was pleased to get a deer this fall along the South Platte River. Mr. Fisbeck was a patient at Melissa Memorial Hospital here for a few days before entering the Logan County Hospital on November 1. He submitted to surgery on Tuesday, November 21.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 28, at Zion Lutheran Church in Holyoke with Rev. James Pomeroy officiating. The Lewis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Interment was at Holyoke Memorial Park.
One of 11 children of Herman and Bertha Hinzman Fisbeck, August Herman Fisbeck was born March 26, 1891, at Western, Ne and was baptized and confirmed at the Lutheran church in Western. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church here.
On March 19, 1913 he was united in marriage to Rosie C. Schropfer at Fairbury, Jefferson County, Nebraska.
Mr. and Mrs. Fisbeck lived near Dakin, Nebraska until 1926 and moved to a farm near Holyoke in 1927. From 1938 until 1940 they farmed at New Plymouth, Idaho, and from 1940 until 1943 near Ruskin, Nebraska. They returned to the Holyoke community in 1943 and engaged in farming and ranching until retiring and moving to Holyoke in 1957. Since that time the Fisbeck home has been at 122 South High School Avenue here.
Survivors include his wife, Rosie, Holyoke; three daughters, Viona, Mrs. Edward Race of Ovid, Irene, Mrs. Glenn Heimer, Holyoke and Laverne, Mrs. C.J. Maul, Sterling; one son, Alfred of Broomfield; five brothers, Ferdinand of Kennewick, Washington, William and Gustav of Holyoke, Otto of Fairbury, Nebraska and Lester of Salem, Oregon; one sister, Mrs. Clara Wendorf of Fairbury, Nebraska; 13 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Preceding Mr. Fisbeck in death were his parents, one brother, Emil, who lived at Paoli for many years, and three sisters.
