D. Dale Caley, 91, Huntington, passed away at 12:01 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 22, 2004, at his residence.
He was born in Huntington Oct. 10, 1913 to John Jacob and Deborah Ann Jennings Caley. On Sept. 7, 1955 he married Marjorie E. Smith in Huntington, and she preceded him in death on Jan. 7, 2003.
His employment included Caley's Roller Rink, Caley's Apartments, Caley's Restaurant and Caley's Construction and Gravel Pit, all in Huntington. He served in the U.S. Navy Seabees during World War II, and was a life member of the Huntington VFW Post 2689. He also was a member of the Huntington New Hope United Brethren Church.
Survivors include two sons, Michael Wayne Caley, Jacksonville, N.C., and David C. Caley, Huntington; five daughters, Debbie Penn and husband Charlie, Huntington, Jane Troutman, Mara Sue Reen and husband John, all of Battle Creek, Mich., Kitty Caley, Texas, and Ruth Ann Caley, Grand Haven, Mich.; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Gilbert (Dawn) Caley, Key West, Fla.; 47 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death along with his wife, were a son, Everett Duane Caley; a daughter, Mary Lou Caley; three brothers, Albert, Guy and Gilbert Caley; and two sisters, Clara Holly and Florence Young.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Deal-Robbins and Van Gilder Huntington Chapel, with Pastor M.E. Burkett officiating. Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday. Burial will be in Monument City Cemetery, Huntington County. Memorials may be made to the New Hope United Brethren Church Building Fund, or Parkview Huntington Home Hospice, in care of the funeral home.
