OBITUARY, The Correctionville News, 6 March 1969, page 1: Funeral services for Charles Austin Joy, a prominent Sac City resident, were held Saturday, March 1, 1969, at 11 a.m. at the First Christian Church in Sac City with Rev. Fred J. Marsh officiating.
Mr. Joy passed away at Park View Manor rest home in Sac City on February 26, 1969, following a short illness. Burial was in Cory Grove Cemetery, Sac City.
Charles Joy was born August 9, 1882, at Logan, Iowa, the tenth of thirteen children. He attended school at Logan, later moving to the Cushing community where he began farming and married Nora Carter February 13, 1906.
Three sons were born to them, Lavern of Spencer, Gerald of Jackson, Mississippi, and Harold, deceased. Mr. Joy was a leader in the development of the Christian Church at Correctionville, where he held offices as an elder, Sunday school superintendent and chairman of the official board.
He and his family moved to Sac City in 1931 where he sold Walnut Grove products. Mrs. Joy died in 1935. He worked in the furniture store of Farber and Otteman for the past twenty-one years.
He is survived by one brother, John Joy of Cherokee, two sons, seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
