J. L. Burns
JEFFERSON – J. L. "Jake" Burns, 83, of 25 York St., who was a retired auto parts manager, died at 6:15 a.m. Tuesday at Memorial Hospital, York. He was the husband of Florence (Shaffer) Burns.
The service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Sauter Funeral Home, 175 N. Main St., Spring Grove. Burial will be in Jefferson Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Mr. Burns was born in Codorus Township, the son of the late Jacob Calvin and Harrietta (Gentzler) Burns.
He had retired after 36 years of employment with Cooper's Motors, Hanover. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He was a life member of both the Jefferson Fire Company and of Friendship Hose Company, Spring Grove. Also, he was a member of Jefferson Brothers of the Brush, of Jefferson Sportsmen's Club, of Jefferson Baseball Association and of American Association of Retired Persons Jefferson Area Chapter 3369.
Mr. Burns also is survived by a daughter, Phyllis B. Hoover, W. Hoke St., Spring Grove; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and a brother, Stewart C. Burns, Spring Grove RD 3.
Officiating at the service will be his pastor, the Rev. Allan S. Wysocki.
