Dabney's VA MIL. REV. War Military Stone

Job Hamblen established his residence 145 yds. east, 15 yds. north of this marker in 1825. Job Hamblen and his family were the first settlers to this area and Hamblen Township bears his name. He served in the Revolutionary War 1779-1782. Capt. John Tabb's Co., Col Dabney's Va. Militia. Participated in seige and surrender of British Army, Yorktown, Va., Oct. 19, 1781. At the lower left corner of the marker is "JOB" and and arrow pointing to his military stone which marked the head of his grave. At the lower right corner is "ELEANOR" and an arrow pointing to the uninscribed fieldstone which marks the head of the grave of Eleanor Mullings Hamblen.
