Marian Lenore Farina Bolstad passed away March 24, 2011, from cancer. She was 80. Born in Portland to Italian immigrants, Carmelo and Mamie Farina, she attended Portland Public Schools and graduated from Commerce (now Cleveland) High School in 1948. She married Marvin Bolstad Jan. 31, 1953, raising their three children in Lake Oswego. They moved to downtown Portland in 1986, thoroughly embracing the urban lifestyle.
Marian enjoyed traveling, jazz, reading, tap dancing, the Trail Blazers, Bible study, bowling and especially tennis-as both a player and fan of the game. She and her husband were charter members of Mountain Park Racquet Club. Her greatest love and highest priority was her family. Marian lived her life with dignity and grace and we will always remember her beautiful smile.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Marvin R. Bolstad; daughter, Terry Morrison (Douglas) of Bellevue, Wash.; sons, Steven Bolstad of Portland and Philip Bolstad (Pam) of Denver; grand-children, Kirk and Kari Lynn Morrison; sister, Mary Lee of Beaverton; and a large extended family.
A private burial was held March 28, 2011, at Skyline Memorial Gardens. A memorial service is planned for 10 a.m. Saturday, April 23, 2011, in First Unitarian Church, 1011 S.W. 12th Ave., Portland. A reception will follow.
