Woodward Blanton Baugh, 82, retired general superintendent of transportation for Richmond, Fredericksburg & Potomac Railroad Co., died today at his residence here.
A Richmond native, he was a graduate of the University of Richmond. He joined RF& P railroad in 1920 as a "call" boy. He held various positions until he was promoted to general superintendent of transportation on Dec. 1, 1960. He retired in 1968. Mr. Baugh was a member of First Baptist Church, the American Association of Railway Superintendents, the National Defense transportation Association and Meridian Lodge 284, AF&AM.
He was a former monarch of Samis Grotto, a former president of the Sphinx Club, a member of Acca Temple and a 32nd-degree Scottish Rite Mason.
Mr. Baugh was a former member of the United States, Virginia and Metropolitan Richmond chambers of commerce.
He was the widower of Mrs. Helen Garthright Baugh.
Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Lonell Orsi and Mrs. Gladiola Acree, both of Richmond.
A funeral will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m. at Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Ave. Burial, with Masonic rites, will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
