FORT WORTH, TEXAS - Services for Kristi Kathleen Beckel, 14, will be 10:30zm Monday at Bethesda Community Church with Dr. Al Meridith officiating. Interment will be at 2:30pm at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Ardmore, with Dr. Alton Fannin officiating.

Born Jan. 16, 1985, at Little Rock, Ark., she died Sept. 16, 1999, at Fort Worth, victim in the Wedgewood Baptist Church shootings. She was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Dr. William C. Davis and Henry Beckel.

Kristi was a student at Bethesda Christian School, where she played on the junior varsity volleyball team. She was a member of the National Honor Society and received the citizenship award when she attended the Temple Christian School.

Kristi was a very giving child and we knew she would want to be an organ donor. When we named Kristi, we didn¹t realize how prophetic her name would be. The name Kristi means Christ-like, and in being an organ donor she has given part of herself so that others can live. Her favorite verse was Romans 15:5-7 of the New International Bible version.

We, her parents, thank God for giving her to us for the past 14 years. We are asking donations be made to the Bethesda Christian School, 4700 North Beach Street, Fort Worth, TX 76137 in Kristi¹s name. These funds will go toward the building of a hardwood floor in the gym where she loved to play volleyball.

Survivors include her parents, Bob and Debbie Beckel, of the home; one sister, Kim Murrillo, Killeen, Texas; grandmothers, Margie Davis and Kathleen Beckel, Ardmore; and a nephew, Gavin.

Bearers are Harold Cypert, Paul Emert, Randy James, Keith Chadwick, Jack Graves and Daryl Coad. Kristi will lie in state at the Shannon Rose Hill Funeral Home, Fort Worth. Services are under the direction of Griffin-Kennedy-Watts Funeral Home. Source: Daily Ardmoreite.
