LYRON O. "CHUCK" BRONAUGH, 90, of Duncan, Okla., died Sunday, Aug. 31, 2008, in Duncan.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Don Grantham Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Randy Southerland officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Duncan Cemetery.
Chuck was born July 20, 1918, in Milburn, to James P. and Almarene Hearrell Bronaugh. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, flying 32 missions as a tail gunner on a B-24 in the Pacific Theater.
Chuck was employed by Mobil Oil Co. for 40 years as a roughneck, driller, tool pusher, roustabout, and finally as a lease operator, retiring in 1980. He was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge.
On Oct. 12, 1936, he married Pauline Gover and they enjoyed each other's company for more than 72 years.
He is survived by his wife, Pauline of the home; a son, Charles Bronaugh and his fiancee' Linda Garrison of Duncan; a sister, Pauline Moody of Tulsa; two grandchildren, Tami Elliott, and Brad Anderson and wife Christine; and four great-grandchildren, Jonathan Elliott, Cameron Anderson, Jacob Anderson and Michael Anderson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother; and two infant children.
Bearers will be Brad Anderson, Russell Garrison, Jimmy Weldon, Tami Elliott, Dennis Cliffinger and Sonny Reed.
