MARY ETTE BERRY SUCCUMBS TO SCARLET FEVER
Mary Etta, 13 year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Berry, passed away at the family home south of town Sunday of scarlet fever and complications. Funeral services were conducted at the home Wednesday afternoon. On account of the family being under quarantine the friends gathered in the yard while the family remained in the house. Services were conducted by Rev. Charles G. Roe, interment was in McDonald cemetery.
The following obituary was read.
Mary Etta, daughter of Alvin and Cecil Berry, was born December 23, 1922, and departed this life on Sunday, May 26, 1935, at the home of her parents where she was born and where she had lived all her life.
She attended the Little Beaver school and would have been in eight grade next year.
Mary Etta was a regular attendant of the Church of God. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior and was baptized in November, 1933. The Sunday she passed away was the first Sunday in more than two years that she had missed Sunday School. In April she completed her second year of perfect attendance. It seemed to her loved ones that her soul would take its flight at 9:30 Sunday morning, the hour the family usually left home for Sunday School. However, she rallied and lived a few more hours.
She is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Berry, one brother, Melvin Richard, a host of relatives and friends who mourn her passing.
"Of Him I'll boast while here I stay
And then to realms of endless day,
I'll spread my wings and fly away
His child forever more.
CARD OF THANKS
We wish to express our sincere thanks to our neighbors and friends for all the kindness shown to us in our recent bereavement. While circumstances, which none of us could control, forced us to be "alone with God, the world forbidden," we deeply appreciate every thing that was done for us.
Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Berry,
Family and Relatives.
