William Ethel Hodge married 9 August 1885 Fannie Miller at San Saba, Texas, (Fannie, born 9 May 1869 in Hays County, Texas; died 1956 at Corona, N.M; Daughter of Hugh Miller and Sarah Ann [Mayes] Miller). William E. Hodge was a rancher in San Saba, Brown and Eastland Counties, Texas, and a member of the Texas Rangers. Records in the Texas State Archives show that he was a private in Company C Ranger Force, stationed in Austin. His enlistment records indicate that he was born at Elgin, Bastrop County, Texas, was six feet tall, fair complexion, blue eyes, and dark hair. He resigned from the Rangers on July 1, 1918, age 51. Children: Frank Ellis; Charles Clinton; Burney Miller; Nanny May; William Bryan; Sarah Willard; Sidney Douglas.

He passed long before I was born, but because of my interest in my ancestry, I have had the opportunity to get to know him. One sweet day ...
