William John Battenberg, 58, the owner of the Creighton Lunch, died at 3:30 a.m. yesterday in his home, 1525 Creighton Ave. He retired about one and a half years ago because of ill health.

Mr. Battenberg, a veteran of World War I, served 18 months overseas during the war. At one time he was a member of the Fort Wayne police department. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the Veterans of Foreign
Wars.

Surviving are the wife, Esther; his father John P. Battenberg, Monroeville; three daughters, Mrs. Ruth Keith and Mrs. Hazel Kennedy, both of Fort Wayne; and Mrs. Betty Hendricks, Houston, Tex.; sone son, Chalmers L., Fort Wayne; three sisters, Mrs. Hazel Brown, Monroeville; Mrs. Edith Bailey, Decatur; and Mrs. Florence Doty, Lenanon, Tenn.; one brother, Daniel, Lake George, Ind.; and one grandson.

The body was taken to the D.O. McComb & Sons Funeral Home where friends may call after 8 p.m. today. The body will be taken to the Assembly of God Church at 10 a.m. Wednesday and will lie in state there until the time of service.

Services will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. in the church, the Rev. Paul E. Taino officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
