Birth: Feb. 17, 1848
Jefferson County
Iowa, USA
Death: Jan. 20, 1917
Lone Wolf
Kiowa County
Oklahoma, USA

Rebecca Ellen Parsons Archibald was originally from Jefferson County, Iowa.

Her father, John Rust Parsons, was literally one of the first of the new pioneers to establish their families in the area that was yet to become Jefferson County, in the SE part of Iowa. This was in the latter part of the 1830's. The Parsons family grew to be a very influential and extensive families in that area; eventually the descendants migrated to other parts of the country.

Rebecca married Benjamin Archibald on March 11, 1866 in Jefferson County. In 1891 they moved to Estherville, Iowa - living there for ten years.

In 1901 this Archibald family moved to Lone Wolf, OK where they lived until their deaths.

Rebecca and Benjamin Archibald died within three weeks of each other in early 1917.

Surviving children a/o Feb 1917:
Eva Archibald (Toothacre/Toothaker)*
Charles E Archibald
Mrs. J. G. Atchison (first name possibly Dollie; possibly remarried by 1956 under married name Rustad)

Special personal note: This contributor has Thomas family distant relatives that lived in nearby Washita County in Retrop and Sentinel and are buried in the cemeteries there (memorials and headstone photos are in place for them already). Since recently discovering this Archibald/Parsons family that wound up in nearby Lone Wolf, it is curious to think that these families may have even known each other! Wouldn't that be an interesting coincidence? /rkt 2-24-2010

*The married surname is "Toothaker"; however newspaper obituaries sometimes used the spelling "Toothacre" as their phonetic version. Sigh.

On a personal note, a grandson of Eva Archibald Toothacre/Toothaker was the late Frank Weston, of Jefferson County, Iowa. This contributor (who also lives in Jefferson County, Iowa) personally knew Frank for many years before he died in 1998. Frank and his wife Ann were very nice people. Frank's daughter, Claudia, was married to the late John Genkinger. John was a eyecare provider from whom this contributor had bought glasses from for over 30 years now. I'm wearing a pair of glasses bought from him as I write this entry! Small world! /rkt 2-24-2010
