L. E. Alsup, 46, died Thursday, 7 July 1966, at University Hospital, Columbia, Missouri as the result of an accident near there Thursday morning. Alsup worked for the Republic Gypsum wallboard plant at Duke, was driving a compamy truck at the time which struck a bridge embankment near Columbia about 7:00 a.m. Thursday. The Missouri Highway Patrol officers said that the doctor's report showed Alsup might have suffered a heart attack before his truck hit the right pier of the bridge he was approaching. Investigating officers said Alsup was thrown from the truck which continued another 200 feet after striking the pier. He was a son of William Larkin Alsup and Ella (Young) Alsup. He was married to Miss Johanna Rhen, 10 Nov 1945 in Germany. He served in the Merchant Marines and later the Army. Surviving him are his wife; two daughters, Roswitha and Sandra; two sons Norbert and Terry. Two sisters, Mrs. Luther (Crissie) Brandon and Mrs. Delbert (Juanita) Stephens, and one brother Dewey Alsup. He was a member of the Lutheran Church at Granite. Funeral services were held Sunday in the Memorial Chapel of Johnson Southwest Mortuary with Rev. Robert Faga, pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church officiating. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery.
