DYESS, EZEKIEL 1821-1907

Ezekiel Dyess was born in Appling County, April 7. 1821, son of Henry Dyess, Jr., (Vol.111). He was married in 1839 to Lydia Cooper, daughter of Willoughby Cooper of Wayne County. She was born Dec 6, 1817. They had the following children, the first three born in Ware County, and the remainder in Florida:

The first wife, Lydia, died Dec. 18, 1881, at their home in Baker Co, Fla., and on June 13, 1882, Ezekiel Dyess married Mary Smith but had no further issue. In 1845, Ezekiel Dyess moved from Ware County to Nassau County, FL and in the creation of Baker County about fifteen years later was cut into that county. His home was in the village of Olustee, where he was a merchant for many years before his death. He died Feb, 22, 1907, at Sanderson, Fla., and was buried by his first wife in Olustee Cemetery.
