The following is from an obituary:
Thaddeus C. Dulin, 80, co-founder of Dulin & Martin co., died yesterday at his residence in the Kenesaw Apartments after an illness of several months.

Mr. Dulin had been in poor health since the death of his wife, Mrs. Irene Stinemetz Dulin, last October.

Born in Leesburg, Va., April 18, 1853, Mr. Dulin was the son of Alfred T. and Margaret Dulin. He came to the Capital when about 18 years old and after several business ventures went to work in the store of M.W. Beveridge.

He become friendly with William H. Martin, who also was an employee of the store and in 1893 the two pooled their funds and bought Mr. Beveridge's store, which was located on F Street, between Twelfth and Thirteenth.

Under their guidance, the store flourished and Mr. Dulin and Mr. Martin became two of the city's leading merchants.

They were forced to evacuate the building they occupied for 31 years when fire badly damaged their store in January, 1929. In July 1929, they moved to the building which the firm now occupies at Connecticut Avenue and L Streets.

Mr. Martin died about two years ago and Mr. Dulin, following the death of his wife, left the business in the hands of his two sons, Horace, who is now president of the company and Harry S. Dulin. Mrs. Dulin was the daughter of B.H. Stinemetz, who was a furrier at Twelfth and F Streets.

Mr. Dulin was active in the affairs of Mt. Pleasant Congregational Church. He also belonged to the Rotary Club, Temple Noyes Lodge, F.A.A.M. and the Scottish Rite Masons.

In previous years, he belonged to the Columbia and Congressional Country Clubs, Chamber of Commerce and Board of Trade.

Besides his sons, he is survived by three grandchildren, Thaddeus Ronsaville, Marion Jeanneatte and Irene Fletcher Dulin.
