Gabrielle Antoinette Chappuis Baruffol, 94, died November 15, 2003, after a brief illness.

Gaby was born May 18, 1909, in Lausanne, Switzerland to Henri and Louise Habegger Chappuis. She immigrated to the U.S. in 1938 and settled in Salt Lake in 1942. She married Louis Baruffol, her Swiss sweetheart, on June 9, 1949. He died in 1994. Gaby was cook and housekeeper in the household of Apostle Albert and Lucy Gates Bowen until their demise. She then served as cook and housekeeper to Pres. David O. and Emma Rae McKay. She was a faithful member of the LDS Church and served in many callings. She particularly enjoyed her primary callings as she loved little children. She had a beautiful alto voice which she contributed to many ward choirs. Gaby will be remembered by many for her kindness, generosity and hospitality to unnumbered friends and strangers alike, and will be remembered with much love. She is survived by numerous extended family members both in the U.S. and Switzerland, particularly her attentive niece, Jeanne Robson.

Special thanks and heartfelt gratitude are extended to Bernadine, Amy, Elizabeth and Glena Winkler and their family, whose love and devoted care extended her life in her own home during her last years.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, Nov. 19 at noon at the 18th North Ward Chapel, 107 G Street. Viewing will be Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple, and Wednesday at the church one hour prior to services. Interment in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
