Taken from the Ironwood Daily Globe 8 Jun 1963: ANTHONY J. CHOUINARD: Anthony John [Zab] Chouinard, 63, of 48 Aurora Loc., died Friday night at Grand View, where he has been a patient since suffering a stroke Sunday.

He was born here June 1, 1900 and attended local schools. He entered the Army in World War I on Sept. 17, 1917 and served with Company K. 61st Infantry receiving his discharge March 12, 1919. He was in combat overseas in several battles and was wounded in service.

When he returned from service he worked for the Oliver Mining Co. And after nearly 40 years of service was retired in 1961.

Mr. Chouinard was a follower of sports and took active part in baseball and softball.

He was married to Helia Wiitanen of Trout Creek Jan. 18 1917 at Ironwood. She died Aug. 6, 1956. The deceased was a member of the St. Ambrose Catholic Church. American Legion Post 5, General Pershing Lake Superior Barracks of Veterans of World War I and the Aurora Athletic Club.

Surviving are six children: Mrs. Floyd Ramme of Ironwood, William C. of Saukville, Wis., Edward of New Holstein, Wis., James of Ironwood, Mrs. Dale Taylor of Marenisco and Antoinette of Ironwood; a sister, Mrs. Anna Asplund of Ironwood; three brothers, Joseph of Appleton, Wis., Felix of San Diego, Calif., and Louis of Ironwood, and 19 grandchildren.

The McKevitt-Kershner Funeral Home will open at 3 p.m. Monday and the rosary will be recited at the funeral home at 8 p.m. Monday.

The funeral Mass will be offered Tuesday at 9 a.m. at St. Ambrose Catholic Church and Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery. [He is buried in block 36 lot 18]

He is a first cousin one time removed of my husband Raymond W. Fitch.
