William Clack Burford was born July 30, 1816 (some records say it was May 30, 1816). He married Elizabeth Flewellen on Dec. 9,1841. She died (after bearing him 7 children) Sept. 22, 1856. William C. was a widower at age 40. He married Susan E. Page ( my ancestor) on Sept. 17, 1858, at the age of 42, so he was 16 years older than Susan. William C. Died Oct. 19, 1863, in Memphis, TN. According to the Burford Cemetery records, William C. Burford is buried in the Burford Cemetery, William C. Burford and Susan E. Page had three children after their marriage in 1858-----Thomas Anderson Burford (born March 6, 1859 and died Dec. 22, 1860), Daniel Davis Burford (our ancestor was born Jan. 23, 1861 and died around 1905 or 1906), and William Clack Burford (born Dec. 29, 1862 and died Sept. 5, 1864--never reaching maturity). William C. would die, leaving Susan with 10-year old James Shadrich (from his marriage to Elizabeth Flewellen), Daniel Davis Burford, age 2-1/2, and William Clack Burford, Jr., who was a little less than a year old. Little William C., Jr., would die on Sept. 5, 1864, age 1 year, 8-1/2 months old. This would leave Susan with only two sons, and one was a stepson. Susan was just shy of her 33rd birthday when she lost her baby son and not yet 32 when she lost her husband. I'm pretty sure that the hardships of the Civil War, losing a husband and two sons in the span of 4 years was just too much for her to bear. I don't know if James Shadrich stayed with the Flewellens (there is a Flewellen's Crossroads to this day in northern Mississippi, and Elizabeth's brother was a sheriff of either Hernando county or one close by) or accompanied Susan to the area around Water Valley, Coffeyville, or Calhoun, but according to Anne Griffin, Daniel Davis at age 19 was still living with Susan E. Page Burford in the 1880 census. James Shadrich would have been only around 12-13 when Susan made the move from DeSoto County to Yalobusha or Calhoun County. But she had relatives living there, and I find no reference to the fact that she ever remarried. I'm pretty sure she did not.
James Shadrich Burford was born on April 22, 1852, in DeSoto County Miss., and died in 1888 in Cape Gerardeau Co., Mo.
Daniel Davis Burford and his wife Eliza Wilson Burford both died in Vance, Mississippi around 1904 and 1905 or 1906. They are buried on the bank of a creek that drains into the Mississippi River some miles to the west, in a now lost cemetery. Daniel and Eliza's 4 children were sent to Columbia County Arkansas to live with their mothers brother Ben Wilson. They never knew or met any of their Burford relatives they left behind in Mississippi.

I think that James Shadrack Burford may be buried in Missouri instead of the Burford Cemetery. The James S. Burford #17986599 in Missouri is William Clack Burford's son. However I do not know if he is actually buried in this cemetery or the Burford Cemetery.
