Dr. Andrew W. Prout, 63, prominent Columbus physician and brother of Dr. Frank J. Prout, president of Bowling Green State University, died Wednesday at Mt. Carmel Hospital, Columbus, following a heart attack he had suffered last week.
Dr. Prout was born at Prout Station south of Sandusky. He attended Ohio Weleyan University and was graduated from Ohio Medical University, Columbus, before it became part of Ohio Stat University.
He did graduate work in Vienna, Austria, and had practiced medicine in Columbus since 1910. he specialized in eye, ear, nose and throat treatment and surgery.
Dr. Prout was a member of numerous medical associations and societies.
Surviving besides his brother are his widow, Mrs. Marion Prout; three sons, Andrew Prout, Jr., naval officer stationed at Boston; Huston Prout, Columbus, and Frank J. Prout, a student at Washington and Lee University, and his sister, Mrs. Walker Buel, Chevy Chase, MD., wife of the Washington correspondent for the Cleveland Plain Dealer.
