Alverta "Vert" Cooper, 88, Carthage, formerly of Plymouth, died at 12:15 a.m., Sunday, April 8, 2007, at Hancock County Nursing Home, Carthage.

She was born Sept. 25, 1918, in Plymouth, the daughter of Charles Edward and Oakle (VanWinkle) Braun. She married Lester Cooper on Jan. 31, 1939, in Keokuk, Iowa. He preceded her in death Jan. 4, 1992.

She was a homemaker and a 1936 graduate of Plymouth High School. She was a member of the Royal Neighbors.

She is survived by three sisters-in-law; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and her parents, she was also preceded in death by one brother, Ralph Braun.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, April 12, 2007, in Round Prairie Cemetery, near Plymouth, with the Rev. Sandra Bunnell officiating.

Memorials may be made to the Round Prairie Cemetery Association.

The Hamilton Funeral Home, Augusta, is in charge of arrangements.
