William Riley Harrison was born in West Salem, Indiana, March 3rd, 1847; was united in marriage to Miss Mary E. Paul, December 3rd, 1869. To this union were born ten children, six of whom are living and were present at his death. The children are: Mrs. Fannie Switzer, Mrs. Rose Sterling, Mrs. Olive Utt, Mrs. Anna Jennings, Mr. Claude Harrison and Mr. Charles Harrison, all of whom except Mrs. Switzer reside in Wichita.
He is also survived by three sisters and one brother. On October 28th, 1889, his wife passed away, and March 14th, 1892, he was married to Mrs. Brunette Rice was preceded him to the other land, last June.
He came to Kansas in 1873, and in 1877 moved to Augusta, where he has since resided till last February when he went to Wichita, to make his home with his children. He passed away June 5th at 10:56 p.m. from dropsy of the heart. He was a charter member of the Christian Church of this city, for over thirty years a member of the I.O.O.F. and was also a member of the Fraternal Union.
The body was brought from Wichita, Sunday afternoon and taken to the church where the funeral sermon was preached by the minister, interment being made in Elmwood cemetery.
