Amelia was born in Silver City, Nevada and was baptized Emelie Elizabeth Caza. She met and married Owen Adelbert Courser in Aiken, Minnesota. She was a small woman, who spoke poor english. He parents Joseph and Philomene (Amiott) Caza were from Quebec Canada. Joseph brought his family to California in search of gold, and later worked in the Nevada Silver mines where Amelia was born. Amelia was able to visit with her family in Canada, as her parents often returned to Canada. One of nine children, she and her husband had ten children. They spent a large portion of their lives living in Montana, raising their children and enjoying their grandchildren.
