Retired U.S. Marine Corps Lt. Col. Marshall Gregory passed away the morning of April 24, 2008, in Santa Rosa, Calif., at the age of 87. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Helen; children, Alan Gregory (Jeane) of New Bern, N.C., Keith Gregory of San Francisco, Lowell Whiting of Pittsburg, Calif., Kevin Gregory (Tonya) of Sunnyvale and Brian Gregory (Chantal) of Louisville, Colo.; grandchildren, Shiloh and Colter Whiting, Nicole, Megan, Mariah, Austin, Alexandra and Demetra Gregory; and sister, Peggy Huffman of Jackson, Miss. Marshall followed his father and brother into military service following graduation from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1942. He spent 21 years in the Marines serving during World War II and Korea (artillery officer, jet pilot, squadron commander). He also worked for Lockheed in Sunnyvale and later earned a JD degree from Santa Clara University. He reveled in fine food, wine, music, literature, poetry and travel. Services were held at 1 p.m. May 1, 2008, in Daniels Chapel of the Roses, 1225 Sonoma Ave., Santa Rosa. Interment with full military honors will be held in Arlington National Cemetery in June. A memorial contribution can be made to the American Heart Association, 1400 N. Dutton Ave., Santa Rosa, CA 95401.
