Homer was a cousin .
He was the 8th of 13 children born to George Washington Cornelison and Mary Elizabeth (Campbell) Cornelison. He lived most of his life in Erick, Oklahoma.
On Feb. 24, 1916, he married Jewell Catherine Gilbert on February 24th, 1916, in Beckham Co., OK.
They had three children together: Homer El Dean, LaUna Mae, and Ira Gene Cornelison.
Homer was the "ballplayer" in the family. He was a third baseman. Homer was shorter than most of the other Cornelisons but his answer to this was that at least he could bend over to pick a grounder. He played for a team out of Amarillo, similar to a minor league franchise. After the death of his brother, he helped run the family farm. In 1943, while his sons were in the service, he and his brother Archie Porter Cornelison were killed by a drunk driver while walking across a bridge.
