J. Clifford Perkins, 81, of Weiner, died Tuesday evening at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital.
Born in Bono, he had lived most of his life in Weiner.
Since 1956, he had owned and operated Perkins Body Shop in Weiner. Prior to owning the body shop he had worked for Lincoln Mercury as paint shop foreman in St. Louis. He loved fishing, stock car racing and anything dealing with cars. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. During the time he was in the army, he helped guard the Panama Canal. He attended the Weiner Christian Church.
He is survived by his wife, E. Jean Perkins of the home; his son and daughter-in-law, Wayne & Andri Perkins and granddaughter, Calli Perkins, all of Jonesboro; step children, Scott Moore, Fisher, Melanie Greeno, Jonesboro, Cherie Sprouse, Weiner; brother, Leon Perkins; sister, Hazel Strickland, both of Jonesboro.
He was preceded in death by his parents, W.A. & Christine McMurturey Perkins; a son, James Brent Perkins; sisters and brother, Nell McGrath, Martha Strickland, and LaVaughn Perkins.
Graveside services will be held on Friday at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Cemetery in Bono with Tommy Wofford speaking. Emerson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Honorary pallbearers will be James Guthrie, Tony Sullins, Ronnie Hatcher, Tommy & Sally Wofford, J.B. & Marjorie Huber, Trey Wofford, Terry & Brian Sevener, James Perkins, Steven Perkins, Jerry Strickland, and Mike McGrath.
