MCPO Dwaine L. Sinnen, 66, died March 11, 1999, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

Born in Nebraska, he was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church and had been an elder of the church and past president of the A.A.L. He was also a member of Fleet Reserve Association. He retired from the U.S. Navy after 27 years of service as a master chief petty officer. He served during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam. After he retired from the military, Mr. Sinnen worked with the U.S. Postal Service and at Thrifty Car Rental.

He is survived by his wife, Thelma M. Sinnen; three sons, John R. Sinnen and his wife, Patricia, of Linthicum, Md., Mark Antonio Sinnen and his wife, Linda, of Virginia Beach, and Matthew D. Sinnen and his wife, Tina, of Virginia Beach; six grandchildren, Luke R., Brooks, Kelly, Zachary, Kurt and Samuel Sinnen; three sisters, Esther Bartels of Franklin, Neb., Norma Aden of Okabena, Minn., and June Bayerkohler of Mesa, Ariz.; and a brother-in-law, Oscar Bartels of Franklin, Neb.
A funeral will be at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 424 Kings Grant Road, Virginia Beach, by the Rev. Edwin J. Nicklas. Burial with full military honors will be at noon Tuesday in Quantico National Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation from 5:15 to 6:30 p.m. Monday at the church. Woodlawn Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge.
