Leona Mae Franks, 91, of Denton, died Tuesday, July 25, 2000, at Lake Forest Good Samaritan Village.
She was born Feb. 28, 1909, in Denton County, to James Milton and Etta Victoria (Templeton) Morris. She married Gilbert Franks on Jan. 6, 1932, in Altus, Okla. He died July 31, 1963.
Mrs. Franks was retired from the University of North Texas as a switchboard operator.
She was a member of First Baptist Church, and the Rebekah Lodge.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 28, at Cindy Nichols Chapel of First Baptist Church. The Rev. Michael Clearman and the Rev. Cliff Feeler will officiate. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Michael Clearman, Mitchell Clearman, Monte Clearman, Barry Clearman, Vicki Kinsman, Sheri Thresher, Dani Kuehler and Richard Franks.
The family will be at the Mulkey-Mason, Jack Schmitz and Son Funeral Home from 7 to 8 p.m. tonight, Thursday, July 27, for visitation.
Survivors include one daughter, Joy Clearman of Denton; one son, Billy Wayne Franks of Houston; one sister, Frances Long of Justin; eight grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.
