Dick Speed was a Special Deputy United States Marshal who, along with two other deputy U.S. marshals (Thomas Hueston and Lafayette Shadley), was shot and killed in the line of duty during the gunfight between marshals and the Doolin-Dalton Gang at Ingalls, Oklahoma Territory. Deputy Marshal Speed is memorialized at Panel 12, E-8 on the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, DC.
