BELLBROOK, Ohio - Vernald Floyd "Vern" Bean, age 77, of Bellbrook, formerly of Gold Creek, Butte and Billings, Mont., passed away Sunday, Sept. 3, 2006, at Kettering Medical Center.
Vern was born Aug. 8, 1929, in Monida, Mont., to the late Ethel Marie (Blake) Willoughby and the late Farmer Floyd Bean. He retired as Corporate Vice President from NCR, where he thoroughly enjoyed working for 35 years.
Vern was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and a WWII Army veteran. Vern loved traveling in his motor home and trout fishing in Montana. He and Patty traveled through every state in the country.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Vernadine Bean Jones; and brother-in-law Harold "Casey" Jones. Vern is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Patricia J. "Patty" Bean; three sons, John and his wife Jin Bean of Portland, Ore., David and his wife Kathy Bean of Lebanon, Tom and his wife Ann Bean of Xenia; five grandchildren, Jing Jing, Mia, Julia, Madeline and Joseph; sister Naomi and her husband Melvin Bennett of Quilcene, Wash.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6, at Conner & Koch Funeral Home, 92 W. Franklin St. (S.R. 725), Bellbrook. Prayer service followed by the rosary service at 8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial, 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 7, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, with Father Tom Schmidt officiating. Interment in Bellbrook Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church Building Fund, 6245 Wilmington Pike, Centerville, OH 45459.
