George Frederick Briix, son of Robert and Hermina Briix, was born near Dresden, Germany on November 8, 1877. In 1884 at the age of 6, he came to the United States with his parents who settled on a farm near White City, Kansas, which was his home except for eight years in which he lived in Hope [KS] and Delavan [KS] and until he retired and moved to White City, Kansas in 1942. On January 18, 1903, he was united in marriage to Victoria [Historia] Blythe, who preceded him in death on January 28, 1953, ten days after their 50th wedding anniversary. Although he regularly attended church in his own commuity, he always kept his membership in the Lutheran Church, which he joined at an early age. In August, 1951, he moved from White City, Kansas to Burlington, Kansas where he made his home until the time of his death on November 7, 1953 at the age of 75 years, 11 months, and 29 days. He is survived by his three children: twin daughters, Louise and Luella, and a son, Robert; ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert Briix of Vici, Oklahoma; one sister, Mrs. Elsie Ninneman of Herington, Kansas; and one cousin, Mrs. Mary Glynn of Enid, Oklahoma, who has always been very close to him. He was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Briix and one sister, Mrs. Hattie Herpich.
