DR GEORGE S AKIN
Dr. George S. Akin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. F. Akin, was born in Harmony, Wis., near Janesville, Dec. 26, 1870. He attended Whitewater Normal be decinding to become a doctor he went immediatly to Bennett Medical College; Chicago, from which he graduated with the class of 1894.
He first practiced medicine at Jefferson but May 1, 1896, he moved to Hebron. Sept. 24 of that same year he married Pauling Bender. For 27 years their lives have been interwoven with that of the community and may are the friends who will miss the doctor and who sympathize with the family. Of his service in a mediacal way, his unselfishness in regard to remuneration, of his successful combat with that dread epidemic - influenza - those who have long resided here know well better that the writer. We think of hiim as a quiet man, one whose deepest feelings God knew better that his neighbors, patient in suffering and thoughtful of those who administered to him, above all a father devoted to his children.
The brothers and sisters who are left are; Clarence, Julia (Mrs. Hans Hansen), Edna (Mrs. John McArthur), who live in or near Janesville; Edward, Henrietta (Mrs. Charles Shields) and Will of Montana. There are also besides the wife, four children; Elroy of Jefferson; Leona (Mrs. Lisle Piper) of Whitewater; George S. of LIbertyville, Ill; and Dorothy who is attending high school at Jefferson.
