William Armour Chroge, age 83, Mattoon, died Sunday, August 3, 1997 at Eastview Medical and Rehabilitation Center, Antigo.

He was born January 20, 1914 in the township of Hutchins, Shawano County, the son of the late William and Marie (Hanson) Chroge.

William was united in marriage to Mildred Bierman on February 11, 1957 in Dubuque, IA. She survives.

In addition to his wife, survivors include four daughters, Doreen (John) Beilke, Birnamwood, Diane (Edward) Writz, Birnamwood, Doris (Howard) Crick, Wittenberg, Denise (Daniel) Onesti, Wittenberg; one son, William (Lisa) Chroge, Jr., Mattoon; one step-son, Leon Chroge, Birnamwood; 12 grandchildren; and one sister, Jeanette Lutzow, Bowler.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Ronald, Russell, Rouneil and Marvin; three sisters, Eunice Wendler, Lenore Olson and Georgia Priser and one step-son.

Funeral services were held August 6, 1997 at the Church of the Nazarene, Mattoon. The Rev. Floyd Gregory officiated. Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery, town of Almon, Shawano County.
