William Davis Sr.
Funeral services for William Davis Sr. were held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 21, 1993, at the Zion Lutherna Church in Paullina, Iowa, with Rev. Stephen Kamprath officiating.
The honorary pallbearers were Bert Louscher, Vernon Halstrom, Clarence Rabe and Harris Dahlquist.
The pallbearers were Dick Halstrom, Bob Faust, Larry Towe, Bob Engel, Burdette Traver and Ferdi Schaefer.
Interment was at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Granville, IA, under the care of the Gaudian-Eldridge Funeral Home of Paullina.
William Davis Sr., the son of Charles and Emma Lloyd Davis, was born December 4, 1923, in Smithland, Iowa. He received his education in schools at Smithland. On November 10, 1943, he was united in marriage to Anna Schwebach in Granville, Iowa. After their marriage, the couple moved to Paullina. He began his employment with the Paullina Tile Company, later with Paullina Grain and retiring in 1976 from the Farmers Elevator. His wife preceded him in death on April 26, 1979, in Paullina. Bill remained in Paullina until entering the Baum-Harmon Hospital in Primghar and passing away on Saturday, September 18, 1993, reaching the age of 69 years, 9 months and 14 days.
He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina.
Bill leaves to cherish his memory one son, William Davis Jr. and his wife, Virginia of Paullina; five daughters: Ruth and her husband, Lyle Rabe of Paullina; Rose and her husband, Lance Shafer of Meriden; Marge and her husband, Allan Stamer of Granville; Pam and her husband, Ron Jalas of Sutherland; Kris and her husband, Brad Anderson of Milford; 13 grandchildren; three great grandchildren and four sisters: Mrs. Ethyl Wood and Mrs. Meryl Hair, both of Smithland; Mrs. Macel Wood of Onawa and Mrs. Dorothy Lane of Sioux City; also a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife; four granddaughters: Anna Marie Shafer, Molly, Jazelle and Misty Jalas; one brother, Charles; three sisters: Edna, Hazel and Maurene.
