MIDDLETON - Benjamin P. Ferrell Sr., 97, of Middleton, died Saturday at a Caldwell hospital.
Born Oct. 8, 1876, in Sugar Grove, Ky., he moved as a child to Thompsonville, Ill., in 1879, and to Alpine, Utah, in 1889. He married Mary E. Mitchell on June 23, 1909, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. They lived in Utah until 1952, when they came to Middleton.
He was a member of the LDS Church and held the office of high priest at the time of his death. He also served a mission for two years. He had been a member of the bishopric, a stake missionary and a home teacher. His wife died in 1962.
Survivors include two daughters, Lillie Cluff and Hazel Hansen, both of Caldwell; a son Benjamin P. Ferrell Jr., of Jackson, Wyo.; 11 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren. A son, four sisters, three brothers and two grandsons preceded him in death.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Middleton Ward LDS Church by Bishop Edward Lewis. Interment will be at Middleton cemetery under the direction of Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell.
