CLARKS, La., Aug. 16. — (Special) — F. R. Daws, 71, veteran lumberman of Clarks, died Thursday morning at 9:05 o'clock in a Monroe hospital.

Mr. Daws, who had made his home here since 1905, was employed for many years by the Louisiana Central Lumber Company here but retired several years ago because of failing health. At the outbreak of the war he returned to the lumber company as a timber grader about five years ago. He was a member of the Old Bethel Church.

Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 10 o'clock at Old Bethel Church with the Rev. Mr. Henderson, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in the Old Bethel Cemetery under the direction of Riser Funeral Home of Columbia.

Mr. Daws is survived by his wife; five daughters, Mrs. O. P. Story, Mrs. Frank Frickie, and Mrs. H. A. Parks, all of Clarks, Mrs. Sammie Lowery, Cotton Valley, and Mrs. W. C. Strange, Port Arthur, Tex.; three sons, L. F. Daws and J. R. Daws, Port Arthur, and J. H. Daws, Clarks; three sisters, Mrs. Ruth Meredith, Floyadada, Tex., and Mrs. Dottie Simmons, Gyron, Tex., and 27 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
