DAYTON RESIDENT FOR LIFE PASSES
DAYTON, July 7 - Theodocia Ernest Magness, age 65, passed away June 28 at the Good Samaritan hospital in Portland. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Bird Parrish. She was born in Dayton November 11, 1883.
She was married to David A. Magness, now deceased, and they had ten children, seven of whom survive her: two daughters, Mrs. Joel Baer, Corona, N.Y.; Mrs. Robert Matson, Los Angeles, Calif.; five sons, Delton, Dayton; Elwin and William, Glide; Porter, Klamath, Calif.; and Millard, Roseburg; six sisters, Mrs. Mattie McDonald, Calfax, Wash.; Maude Roberts, Toledo; Helen Beeler, Amity; Alma Clauson, Portland; Ora Fisher, Newberg; Aver Kuhn, Salem; and two brothers, Ellis Parrish, Dayton; and Elmer Parrish, Salem. Also surviving her are ten grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Mrs. Magness was a member of the Baptist church; Naomi Rebekah lodge; American Legion auxiliary, Civic club and the Dayton Garden club.
Funeral services were held July 1 at 2 p.m. in the Dayton Baptist church, with Rev. Walter Smith, Goldendale, Wash., officiating, assisted by Robert Wolf, local pastor.
Edward Grabenhorst sang "Rock of Ages" and "Face to Face", accompanied by Mrs. Grabenhorst.
Pall bearers were: Joseph Kirkland, Fred Anderson, Glen Abbot, Harry Williams, Wendell Willard, and Iner Mortensen.
Interment in the I.O.O.F. cemetery at Dayton. Hodson Funheral home in Newberg had charge of the services.
