Crystal Irene Ahrens Etter, second child of Lewis and Nancy Ahrens, passed away at Stafford District Hospital at Stafford, Kansas, February 20, 1974, at the age of 61 years, 4 months and 7 days.
Born October 13, 1912 near Mankato, Kansas, on October 31, 1931, she was united in marriage to Joseph Orlando Etter at Smith Center, Kansas. To this union were born five children. She, with her husband and family, lived in or near Superior for many years. Later she and her husband lived in Alabama, Georgia and Florida, where her husband was employed in construction work. In April of 1971, Mr. and Mrs. Etter retired and made their home in Sylvia, Kansas. Crystal was a member of the First Methodist Church in Superior and was also active in the Church of Christ in Sylvia, Kansas.
Crystal was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Nancy Ahrens and her youngest son, Melvin Maurice Etter at the age of 19 years and 1 month in August, 1959.
Survivors are her husband, Joe; sons, Junior Joseph of Atlanta, George, Donald Dean of Gainesville, Georgia, and S. Sgt. Larry Laverne, U.S. Air Force; one daughter, Alice Marguerite Delka of Hardy; two sisters, Florence Thompson of Hardy and Cleo Morey of Hutchinson, Kansas; 11 grandchildren, Ricky, Vicky and Jeanie Etter of Atlanta, Georgia, Jeff Etter of Gainesville, Georgia, Mrs. Patty Cosby of Baton Rouge, La., Lyle, Kim, Mike, Dixie and Cindy Delka of Hardy and one great grandson, Travis Crosby of Baton Rouge, La.
Funeral services were held at 9:30 a.m. from the Church of Christ of Sylvia, Kansas and at 3:00 p.m. from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home, Superior, on Friday, the 22nd of February, 1974, Pastor Otis Webb and Pastor Peter Trucano officiating. Interment was in the Evergreen Cemetery. The Megrue-Price Funeral Home of Superior was in charge of the arrangements.
