Heart Attack Is Blamed In Mine Fatality

GALLITZIN, Sept. 8, - Charles Lasher, aged 41, OF 200 Chestnut street, Gallitzin, died yesterday afternoon at 4:15 o'clock while at work at colliery 10 of the Pennsylvania Coal and Coke corporation here. Cambria County Deputy coroner E. C. Bishop of Nanty Glo said he believed Lasher suffered a heart attack while at work on the tipple. In falling a short distance to the colliery floor he received a severe laceration of the head. He was pronounced dead shortly thereafter. Charles Lasher was born in Gallitzin Jan. 27, 1907, a son of Howard and Cecelia (Hanlon) Lasher. He is survived by his father, his wife, the former Ruth Cronin; one daughter, Dorene; and a brother and a sister, Joseph and Alice, all of Gallitzin. Mr. Lasher was a member of St. Patrick's church. He held membership in the Loyal Order of Moose 185 of Gallitzin, local 1056, United Mine Workers of America, and the Gallitzin volunteer fire department. Friends are being received at the home.

CHARLES LASHER - Chestnut street, Gallitzin, died of a heart attack while working on working a tipple of No. 10 Colliery, Pennsylvania Coal and Coke corporation, at Gallitzin Tuesday afternoon at 4:15 o'clock. He was 37. Deputy Coroner Edward Bishop of Cambria County said Lasher suffered a heart attack which caused his death and cut his head as he fell from the tipple. Mr. Lasher was a native of Gallitzin and was a son of Howard and Cecelia (Hanlon) Lasher. Surviving are his wife, father and one daughter, Doreen.
