Robert "Bob" F. Cullison, 72 ,of Manderson died of a heart attack Oct. 1, 2000, at Washakie Medical Center in Worland.

He was born Dec. 30, 1927, in Gordon, Neb., to George Edward and Laura May (Willey) Cullison.

Mr. Cullison married Lorraine Thomas on June 29, 1950, in Billings.

He was raised on a horse and cattle ranch in Gordon where he stared riding horses on the Sioux Indian Reservation as a child. He had a lifelong love of rodeo.

Mr. Cullison served in the Navy in the South Pacific during World War II where he received the Purple Heart. After his discharge, he moved to Greybull to break horses for local ranchers.

He became a member of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association in 1946 and was assigned PRCA card number nine, which he held until he died. In 1949 he began his full-time professional rodeo career riding brahma bulls and bareback broncs. He finished in the top 10 in both events for 15 years and competed coast to coast, including a performance in Madison Square Garden in New York City. He received his honorary lifetime membership gold card from PRCA in 1978. In May 2000 he was named grand marshal of the first annual bucking horse sale in Cody.

In 1952, he started working for the timber industry out of his home in Hyattville cutting post and poles for local ranchers. In 1960, he invested his rodeo earnings in the Cowboy Timber Treating Plant in Manderson. The family sold the operation in 1997 and moved to a ranch on the Nowood River near Hyattville. Mr. Cullison continued working as an independent timber consultant.

He was a member and past president of the Wyoming Timber Industries Association, Federal Timber Purchasers Association, American Wood Preservers Association, NRA, Wyoming Trucking Association, and was president of the Wyoming-Utah-Nevada chapter of Outdoors Unlimited. He also served on the school board in 1975 and was a state committeeman for the Big Horn County Republican party.

His hobbies included being in the mountains, hunting, fishing, conservative politics, visiting with friends and flying his airplane.

He is survived by his wife Lorraine of Manderson, daughter Bobbie and spouse Steve Tharp of Worland, Cindy Cullison of Hyattville, brother Gene of Nebraska, sister Hazel Wossener of California and Flornece Reedy of Nebraska, grandchildren Mandy and Talon Tharp of Worland and Clint Cullison of Hyattville.

Mr. Cullison was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.

Services were Oct. 7 at the Hyattville School Gym. Cremation followed.
