Julia was a daughter of David Pryor Vance and Julia (Adams) Vance. Early in life, she lived in Okla. and N. Mexico but had been a resident of Salinas for 38 years. She was 86 yrs. She was survived by her husband, James R. Brown of the home, two daughters, Mrs Oval Glass and Mrs. Opal Goddard, both of Salinas, two sons, Merril H. Brown of Salinas and James R. Brown of Buffalo, AR, and by 14 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandsons. Funeral at Struve and Laporte Funeral Chapel. (from Salinas Californian, dated Apr. 9, 1976)

Note: She was half-sister to Savannah Vance Hughes, bur. in Pine Cemetery, Coal Co. OK.
