Mrs. Ruth was a native of Rayville, LA who proudly served as a WAC during WWII. After returning home, she and her husband Frank Hixon opened Hixon's Ceramics where Mrs. Hixon taught ceramic classes, which allowed her to do her favorite thing- entertain others. Her sense of humor and deep compassion carried her through the losses of her parents, Henry and Pearl Shoemaker, brother Houston Shoemaker, husband Frank Hixon, and son Keith Hixon. Many will remember Mrs. Hixon for her years of volunteer work with the Richland Parish Hospital Gift Shop and The Care and Share. Others will remember her for work with the First Baptist Church and Eastern Star. And still others will know her as the young girl who shared her allowance during the Great Depression. Her laugh is one that will resonate in the hearts of all who knew her.
She is survived by her loving daughter Judy Duplechine and her husband James, four grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
Pallbeaers will be James Duplechine, Danny Williams, Randy Franks, Edward Shoemaker, Wendel Shoemaker and Joey Hixon and Honorary Pallbeaer Tyler Franks.
Visitation will be from 3-7 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
