John H Matzl,84, Independence, former owner of the Matzl Radiator Shop, died Nov 8, 1988 in Independence. Mr. Matzl owned the business for more than 30 yrs & retired in 1977. Earlier he taught at the McSweeney Trade School in Kansas City. He was past president of the Independence Host Lions Club. He was a member of the Independence Masonic Lodge & deacon emeritus of the First Christian Church of Independence. He was born in Vienna, Austria & lived in this area for more than 50 yrs. Survivors include his wife, Merle Matzl of the home,a daughter, Patricia Ann Espino, Independence, & 2 grandchildren. Services will be at 9 a.m. Friday at the Speaks Midtown Chapel, burial in Woodlawn Cemetery, Independence. Friends may call from 6 to 7:30 pm. today at the chapel. The family suggest contributions to the church memorial fund.
