Ellen Bunkley, 90, passed away Sunday, Sept. 21, 2008, in Fort Worth.
Funeral: 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church of Arlington. Interment: Moore Memorial Gardens. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Arlington Funeral Home.
Memorials: Mission Arlington.
Ellen was born Sept. 14, 1918, in Weimer to George and Emily Hawkes. She had been a member of First Baptist Church of Arlington for 62 years. She earned a B.A. in music from TWU, special education certification from TCU and taught at schools in Arlington until her retirement. After retirement, she volunteered at Mission Arlington and was honored by First Baptist Church for teaching Sunday school for 72 years.
Her passion was serving the Lord through her gifts of teaching the Bible, piano and in public schools.
Survivors: Husband of 60 years, Miller Bunkley; daughter, Jo Anne Smith and husband, Raley, of Redondo Beach, Calif.; grandchildren, Lindsae Walsh and husband, Robert, of San Antonio, Megan Smith, Todd Smith and wife, Melinda; great-grandchildren, Hannah and Zachary Smith, all of Carrollton; and many nieces and nephews.
