Gladys M. Dittus, age 85, of East Stroudsburg, died Friday, Feb. 25, at the Stroud Manor Nursing Home in East Stroudsburg. She was the wife of the late Howard Dittus.
Born on Sept. 24, 1914, in Binghamton, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Paul and Elsie (Clark) Struppler.
A resident of Monroe County for the last 60 years, she was a member of St. Matthew's Catholic Church in East Stroudsburg, and its Altar and Rosary Society.
She was a Girl Scouts leader in East Stroudsburg during the 1960s. She worked at the former Monroe County General Hospital, now Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg, as a nurse's aide for 10 years, prior to retiring in 1976.
She is survived by three sons, William A. Dittus of Hudson, Fla., Thomas E. Dittus of Oxbow, Maine, and Stephen H. Dittus of East Stroudsburg; two daughters, Mary A. Wilton and Kathryn A. Cramer, both of Stroudsburg; one sister, Minnie Marie Simone of North Bergen, N.J.; 14 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one sister, Mildred E. Funk.
A graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family. Cremation will take place at the H.G. Smith Crematory in Stroudsburg. Interment will be in Laurelwood Cemetery, Stroudsburg.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
