Obituary: Funeral and Burial of Deaver Matron Held Last Friday Attesting to the esteem in which their neighbor through the years has held friends of the family, and even those more slightly acquainted, gathered Friday afternoon at 2 to pay final tribute of respect to the memory of Mrs. Lella Miler Dillon, wife of Squire E. Dillon of Deaver. Mrs. Dillon, a resident of Deaver since 1917, died Saturday morning, June 18, in a Butte, Mont., hospital. At the service Friday afternoon, the Reverend Dr. Rice, pastor of the Deaver Community Methodist church, gave a scriptural reading and offered prayer, and then the Rev. Edward White, former pastor of the church here, and long a friend of the family read the following obituary, speaking comforting words to the family and friends. Obituary: Mrs. Luella Miller Dillon was born Feb. 16, 1894, and departed this life June 18, 1949, age 55 years, 4 months and 2 days. She was the daughter of Mr. And Mrs. Ruhl Miller, and was born and grew up in Azen, Mo., attending the schools of that place and when a young woman removing with her parents to Sedwich, Colo., then with her parents to Buhl, Idaho, where in 1912 she was married to Squire E. Dillon. To this union were born eight sons and four daughters, tow sons, James Albert Dillon and Wilber Ruhl Dillon, dying in infancy. The four sons and daughters, who with the husband and father are left to morn their loss are the six sons, Louis Dillon, of Boysen, Wyo.; Squire Franklin Dillon, Powder River, Wyo.; Arthur, Donald, Lester and Elmer Dillon of Deaver, Wyo.; and the four daughters, Mrs. Mabel Mason, Frannie, Wyo.; Mrs. Mamie Sigmon, Heart Mountain, Wyo.; Mrs. Gertrude Sigmon, Bonneville, Wyo.; and Mrs Hazel Hardin, Stockton, Cal. Members of the family, beside the sons and daughter and their families here to attend the service were the aged mother, Mrs. Gertrude Miller, the to brothers, Clyde Miller and his family, Joseph Miller, and his family, and the three sisters, Mrs. Frank Thatcher, Mrs. Jewel Keen and Mrs. Edna Durfee, all of Buhl, Idaho. One brother Pode Miller, and one sister, Mrs. Mathias Joens, both of Buhl, Idaho, ere unable at this time to come Deaver. One brother had preceded his sister in death. Fourteen Grand children are surviving. Led by Mrs. C. L. Web, the Deaver-Frannie chapter of American War Mothers, of which Mrs. Dillon was a member, have their beautiful service. Mr. And Mrs. Dillon, taking up residence on their homestead which is located two miles north of Deaver, have with the exception of possibly one year when they were in Buhl, Idaho, made this their home, rearing their family of boys and girls in this home community. It may well be said that Mr. Dillon was on of the first homesteaders to build the family home on this land here. These years of residence by the family brought with them friendship, which was shown in the large gathering in Friday afternoon's service, and in the long line of cars driven by these friends as they followed the casket to its resting place in Deaver Eastern Memorial cemetery. Pallbearers were Floyd and Cecil Webber, Fred Steffens, Ralph Campbell, Debs Henry and Earl Richards. The "BASIN REPUBLICAN-RUSTLER", Basin WY, Thur. June 30, 1949, Vol. 53, No. 29 pg 4
