BROTHER OF LOCAL WOMAN FATALLY HURT
JOHN E. NUNEMAKER, 27, Mont Alto, became Franklin County's second traffic fatality of 1976 when he died at 5:25 a.m. Tuesday in Waynesboro Hospital following a car-motorcycle accident Monday night.
State police at the Chambersburg substation reported that the lights on Nunemaker's 1974 Honda motorcycle failed and he had stopped on the Slabtown Road, one half mile south of Mont Alto, when he was struck by a car driven by John Lee Rock, 33, Chambersburg R. 1.
Following the accident at 10:50 p.m., Nunemaker was taken to Waynesboro Hospital in critical condition with multiple lacerations and a compound fracture of the left leg. He died in surgery at the hospital.
Damage to the Rock car was estimated at $150 and to the motorcycle at $300.
Nunemaker was born at Mont Alto, a son of Mrs. Ardella (Strayer) Nunemaker and the late Oscar E. Nunemaker. All his life was lived in Mont Alto.
He was a graduate of Waynesboro High School with the class of 1968 and since graduation had been employed in the maintenance department at Landis Tool Co.
In addition to his mother of Mont Alto, he is survived by these brothers and sisters: Mrs. May Adolini, Paul E. Nunemaker and Mrs. Betty M. Reed, all of Mont Alto; James 0. Nunemaker, Waynesboro R. 1; Mrs. Bessie J. Beltz, Chambersburg R. 2; Mrs. Edith G. Jones, Waynesboro R. 1; Mrs. Mary J. Junkins, Gettysburg R. 3; William J. Nunemaker, Mercersburg R. 1; Mrs. Sally A. Car-baugh, Greencastle R. 3, and Mrs. Nancy Showalter, Leola.
The funeral will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Grove Funeral Home, Waynesboro, in charge of the Rev. Eugene Patrick. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Mont Alto.
Friends may can at the funeral home from 7 to 9 o'clock tonight.
